Faith Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization ministering to the physical and spiritual needs of some of Lesotho’s estimated 180,000 AIDS orphans and vulnerable children.
History
Faith Foundation was established in 1999 for the purpose of providing technical assistance to small, start-up faith based charities in Central Florida.
That all changed in 2003 when Faith Foundation Director, Reno Schalm, received a request for assistance from Mants’ase Children’s Home in Mohales Hoek, Lesotho. Reno and his wife Nancy have roots in Lesotho where they lived and worked from 1980 – 1991. The home was in a desperate situation and was barely functioning. The children would often go for days without eating.
After considerable discussion of the Mants’ase request, the Faith Foundation Board of Directors decided to change the focus of the organization to the humanitarian crisis in Lesotho spawned by the AIDS pandemic.
In 2005 Faith Foundation began working with Mants’ase Children’s Home. Since then we have expanded our work to include the introduction of the WHY WAIT program into schools and assistance to community orphan caregivers.
Mission

- Work with churches, schools, and other organizations with a compatible mission and government leaders to interdict the spread of HIV/AIDS through faith based character development/life skills programming; and, to help them develop the resources to address the needs of those impacted by HIV/AIDS.
- Help the children we serve through mentoring and other programming to develop the character, values and leadership skills needed to become leaders of integrity who will serve their communities and country with dedication and humility.
- Help local orphan care support groups develop profitable enterprises which will generate income support for their care programs.
